Who we are
These terms apply to work by Vertex Skylights Milton Keynes. Our work is fitting and replacing skylights and rooflights around Milton Keynes. We have no public premises. Questions about these terms can be sent to info@vertexskylightsmiltonkeynes.co.uk, to 07880 284133 on WhatsApp, or by phone on 01908 596268.
Survey and quote
The survey is free. After it, we send a fixed written quote that describes the unit, the opening, the finish inside and the work included. The quote stays the same on the day of the work unless you ask us to change the job. Tell us in writing if you want a different unit or finish, and we will confirm any difference in writing before we go ahead.
Agreeing the work
A contract begins when you accept the written quote and we confirm a start date. Please check the quote carefully before accepting it, including the unit, the position and the finish.
Payment
Payment terms are set out in your written quote. Any deposit, staged payment or balance due on completion is stated there before you accept it.
Access and preparation
We need safe access to the roof and to the room below. Please clear the area under the opening and tell us about any hazards, pets or shared access arrangements. If we cannot reach the work area on the agreed day, we will agree a new date with you.
Building Regulations and planning
Skylights and rooflights are fitted to current Building Regulations, and we make the Building Control notification wherever the work is notifiable. Planning is the property owner's responsibility. To check your own position, see our guide to skylight planning permission in Milton Keynes; the council's planning team will confirm it.
Weather and delays
Roof work depends on the weather. If rain or wind makes it unsafe or unwise to open the roof, we will tell you and rebook.
Our guarantee
The workmanship on every installation is covered for ten years in writing; see our guarantee page. Manufacturer faults are handled under the manufacturer's own warranty.
Cancelling
If you agree a contract away from our premises or online, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Your written quote explains how to cancel. If a unit is made to your size, different rules can apply, and we will tell you before you order.
Problems and complaints
If something is wrong, tell us as soon as you can. Our complaints procedure sets out what happens next.
Law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The owner will review them from time to time, and they start from UK norms. They leave your statutory rights as a consumer untouched.
