Who we are
Vertex Skylights Milton Keynes installs and replaces skylights and rooflights across Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. We are the controller of the personal information described here. What we collect
- Details you give us through the enquiry form: your name, phone number, email address, postcode and what you would like done.
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp or by email, and anything you choose to include, such as photos of your room or roof.
- Details we note at a survey: your address, measurements of the room and roof, and photos taken to plan the work.
We do not collect special category information, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.
Why we use it
We use your information to reply to your enquiry, arrange and carry out a survey, prepare a written quote and, if you go ahead, carry out the work, notify Building Control where the work is notifiable, and honour our workmanship guarantee.
Our lawful bases under UK data protection law are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and performing that contract; complying with legal obligations, such as keeping records for tax and Building Regulations; and our legitimate interest in running and improving our business in ways you would reasonably expect.
Who we share it with
Our enquiry form is provided by a customer management service that processes the details on our behalf. WhatsApp messages are handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy terms. Where the work is notifiable, we share the details Building Control needs with the council or a registered building control approver. We may share information with our professional advisers or where the law requires it. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
If you do not go ahead, we keep enquiry details for up to 12 months and then delete them. If we carry out work for you, we keep job records for as long as our workmanship guarantee runs, plus the period the law requires us to keep business and tax records.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it or restrict how we use it, and object to our use of it. Email us and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
